How To Cook Basmati Or Thai Rice.


- Soak any quantity of rice in water for 30 minutes.
-  In the meantime have enough boiling water ready to cook the rice by boiling it normally like you would pasta.
-  We follow the same rule of thumb used for pasta. For every 100 gms of rice boil 1 liter of water.
-  When water boils do not put any salt.
-  Add rice.  You will see that it will sink to the bottom.
-  Count about 5 minutes or when you see the rice specs start moving about freely to the surface and about.
-  Time is close to drain.
-  Taste and check for your preferred doneness.
-  Drain in a colander. Turn off heat.
-  Return rice to pot.
-  Put a kitchen cloth over the pot, then cover with its cover.
Note: The cloth is put there to absorb all the vapours so the rice does not over cook.
You can doctor the rice any way you like, for example by adding butter to melt slowly under its heat.
