I really don't know if home cooked chicken wings are "junk". But after a long time of abstinence, we decided to have some today. The weather is not really that great to use the BBQ so I cooked them in the oven....

Any thick sweet-sour sauce will do. It is just a matter of creativity and imagination as to what mixture of thick sweet-sour sauce to use.

Serves 4

  • 1 kg chicken wings. Tips discarded, and the rest cut at the joint.
  • ½ cup hot smoky bbq sauce. In this case I use my concoction.
  • 2 Tbsp. Soy sauce.
  • 1 Tbsp. thick sweet Soy sauce.
  • 1 Tbsp. fish sauce.
  • 1 tsp cayenne powder.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Preheat your oven to 175 degrees C.
  • Mix the above ingredients very well.
  • Lay your wings on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Rest the chicken wings on it, side by side, in one layer.
  • Brush all the wings back and front with sauce.
  • Roast in preheated oven for 30 minutes in middle shelf.
  • At half time, turn the wings onto their other side.
  • Put on the upper grill till the end.
Serve the wings after pouring the thick juices over them.
