Cheese Potato And Ham Bake.

As days pass by I am running out of recipes. Maria is coming to the rescue with her "X Files"she has been keeping all these years we are together.  These are recipes we have been using many years ago which I have forgotten...
You will need :
Serves 4
-  A medium to small casserole dish.
-  4 big potatoes parboiled very thinly sliced using the Mandolin.
-  100 gms. cooked smoke ham.
 -  200 gms. Edam or Cheddar cheese.
-  50 gms of butter.
-  Salt, pepper and nutmeg.
Method:
-  Butter well the casserole.
-  Lay potato slices to cover base. Add some salt, pepper and nutmeg.
-  Next, add ham slices.
-  Topped with cheese and pieces of butter.
-  Repeat above steps for a second layer.
-  Then add a layer of potatoes, salt, pepper, nutmeg, ham and finally cheese and some knobs of butter.
-  Bake at 160 to 170 degrees C for 20 minutes or until cheese is bubbly.
-  Let cool.
Serve with heart of lettuce filled with small cherry tomatoes dressed with some olive oil and fresh lemon juice. The salad is simple, refreshing and decorative to balance the ham and cheese flavor.
