H i everybody! Yes I know I've been away for quite some time and that is because I was ill with a bad version of the flu. I simply had a Broncho-Pneumonia on both sides.  High fever, chills the whole works.  Gees it sure is a very long time since I fell so sick. Anyway I believe I'm fine now since I felt strong enough to made a nice dessert with a couple of apples I noticed no one was eating ... so instead of letting them spoil I made this dessert using the apples and spices we have...

A s it is probably known, that the Christian Orthodox Easter was exactly one week after the Catholic one this year. There we were making plans to have lunch at my brother in law's pool side as we do every year, and Maria, Barbara and I (mainly I) got struck by the frigging FLEW....heavy head with headache, cough as if my lungs were on fire, eyes burning, no taste or smell and the worst of all, fever 39 degrees centigrade (102.2F)!!! Haven't fallen ill like this in years. I was always the one taking care of the others...now my wife was taking care of me. I know what the Bible says "in sickness and in health" but yet I was always the strong one. Of course all this has nothing to do with braising or cooking but it does..... After 5 days of antibiotics etc. and feeling like a bunch of elephants tread over me, I woke up today feeling much better, still weak, but better and the first thing that came to my mind was to cook something myself !!  Doctor's order are to ea...

Hello again everybody. I am writing this post to apologize for omitting the much needed SYRUP to be poured over the sweet as soon as it comes out of the oven when it is hot. Please go to November 7th 2011 post for the full recipe. I received an anonymous comment (although I would have enjoyed meeting the person) about having forgotten to include the syrup in my recipe. By this I am sure glad that at least somebody is reading these babies! Thanks for your patience Stelio

Recession!!...Emergency Actions....

D uring a recession we should be glad to have certain things such as  flour, breadcrumbs, eggs, pasta, rice, some meat, pulses etc.so when flour, breadcrumbs and eggs are used to coat chicken drumsticks for example, whatever flour, beaten egg and bread crumbs are left behind, are not thrown away but used to make something edible and somewhat nice.  What I am really trying to say is that we should always be truly thankful to God Who gives us our daily bread.
