Fondue Savoyarde With Meatballs And Veggies.

It is very pleasant when once in a long while to get out of your daily routine of eating just about the same food, and to try to evade reality. During these days we need to evade reality. So my wife and I fixed up a nice luncheon for two since our daughter Barbara would be away for the day.

We had bought some ready made fondue Savoyarde in a sachet made up of three cheeses during the Holidays just in case we would need it for something, but finally we did not. So yesterday we thought of using it for us.... Please refer to my post dated March 3rd 1911 heading "La Fondue Savoyarde"... for snowy evenings and lots of white wine.....
Fondue Savoyarde for two:

Ingredients:
-  1 Sachet of Fondue Savoyarde 450 gr from the super market.

-  1 Orange bell pepper cut in bits.
-  2 cups cauliflower in florets.
-  6 -8 cherry tomatoes.
-  2 cups meatballs.
-  ½ loaf of bread cut in cubes.
-  Cheese fondue set with two forks.

Ingredients for the meatballs:

-  400 gms of ground beef.
-  1 small onion finely chopped.
-  3 cloves of garlic finely chopped.
-  1 tsp. za'atar (origano spice mixture).
-  1 egg.
-  Some bread crumbs to dry the meat mixture.
-  ½ tsp. hot chili.

Method for the meatballs:
 -  In a bowl mix ground beef, onion, garlic, za'atar, egg, bread crumbs and hot chili  to get a uniform mixture.
-  Roll bits of mixture between the palms of your hands to form little small bite size meat balls.
-  Stir fry with little oil in a stick proof pan till cooked.

Method for the presentation:

-  Set the fondue set burner on the table. Do not light yet.  Never leave a naked flame unattended.
-  Serve the tomatoes, bell pepper pieces, cauliflower florets, and meatballs when cooked in bowls or  plate separated in four.

-  Serve the bread.
-  Cut open the fondue sachet, heat in microwave for 1½ minutes or in boiling water for 5 minutes.
-  Pour contents into the fondue pan.
-  Heat on hob till cheese boils.
-  Light the fondue base and set the pan over it.

and let the party begin!
Enjoy
Stelio
